Extra Butter To Exclusively Release The New Balance 2002R “Protection” Pack Ahead Of Global Launch

First preview in mid-June, the New Balance 2002R “Protection” Pack is set to release across the globe on August 20th. Yet, New York-based boutique, Extra Butter, has gotten exclusive early-dibs at the three-pair collection.

Informed by a “refined future” concept pitched by New Balance designer, Yue Wu, each NB proposition in the upcoming capsule features a series of “eroded” panels and pre-distressed details in an attempt to present the shoes as wearable relics. Although current generations have taken a liking to the “Y2K” aesthetic, these designs and technologies are entirely of a certain time, and the aforementioned design cues create the illusion of these 2002R pairs having once been “trapped in time.” Premium hairy suedes and leather overlays, as well as breathable, comfortable mesh components, indulge in one of three colorways: “Rain Cloud/Magnet,” “Phantom/Magnet” and “Sea Salt/Munsell White.” The updated NERGY cushioning system rounds out the special trio, proffering the biggest design update from the original 2002 model.

In addition to launching New Balance’s “Protection” Pack early, Extra Butter will also release its own “Refined Future”-inspired private label capsule.
