Michael Le What sacai has accomplished in the past two years is astounding, earning top spots in near every “Best Of…” list both years. And for 2021, Chitose Abe is only picking up the pace, her label serving as the cornerstone of Nike’s collaborative output. Soon, long-time friend Hiroshi Fujiwara will join the designer just as he did Travis Scott, lending the fragment name and logo to Abe’s beloved LDWaffle.
Expected later this month, the silhouette dons both a “Navy” and “Grey” colorway, each tone displayed heavily throughout both the tooling and upper. The former, more simply, dresses its bottommost layer with its respective lead color, matching both the suede and mesh above. Elsewhere, white neutrals fill in many of the blanks — the dual-Swooshes, dual-tongues, heel tabs, etc. — creating the perfect canvas for sacai’s usual branding, the fragment lightning bolt, and the added “The Classic / Fragment : sacai” text.
