As summer winds down, vibrantly-colored, breathable footwear is largely being phased out by heavy-duty, weather-resistant options. Yet, the New Balance 2002R “dad shoe” has recently released in an easy-going “White/Lagoon” colorway perfect for any Labor Day Weekend lounging.
Revived around this time last year, the early-2000s design has been reworked with an entirely-new sole unit. ABZORB and ABZORB SBS cushioning at the midsole and heel, respectively, not only deliver all-day comfort, but also a chunky aesthetic in-line with the unshakeable footwear trend that began as ironic a few years back. Performance-focused mesh bases are overlaid with smooth leather panels across the upper, with both components predominantly clad in a “colorless” arrangement. Blue enters the mix at the toe box, profile “N” logos and branded heel underlays. A much-more eye-catching orange animates detailing across the top-half, but makes its most prominent appearance on the sole unit’s rear portion, rounding out the summer-appropriate look.
