Jasmine Tang With vintage fashion continuing to trend, Nike isn’t hesitating to look back at the past for inspiration. For a new offering, the Swoosh brings design cues from retro varsity jackets onto the Nike Air Force 1 in a classic white and red colorway.
An AF1 revealed earlier as well as another white and green colorway arriving soon hint that these propositions are to be released as a pack. This very offering consists of white tumbled leather uppers that see soft, fleece-like textures on the mid-panel—a possible reference to the lining found inside letterman jackets. “Gym Red” is then applied to the leather tongue and Swooshes for a collegiate look. The red also makes its way onto the heel tab, which is covered in chenille materials reminiscent of the jacket’s patches. As a vintage touch, a “Sail”—rather than white—midsole creates an aged look before the style is complete with a red outsole.
