Jovani Hernandez Since 1997, the Nike Air Foamposite One has captivated audiences from hardwood courts in Orlando, Fla. to the concrete streets of New York City. On November 5th, Japanese institution, Comme des Garçons, will release two monochromatic colorways of the model, which has had its exterior shell modified for the first time ever.
The Nike Basketball sneaker’s iconic upper forgoes its traditional vertical ridges in favor of a pattern much more reminiscent of zen gardens. Each profile features a series of circles around the heel, with forefoot areas also donning the radial detail. The remainder of the either all-black or all-white shell follows a curved design that flows smoothly throughout the silhouette Anfernee Deon “Penny” Hardaway helped popularize. Sole units and tongue arrangements are kept standard across both options, but heel overlays abandon swoosh and Nike Penny logos in favor of the Japanese label’s “HOMME PLUS” branding.
