Expected to make his 2021-22 NBA season debut within the next two weeks, Rui Hachimura has kept busy with his Brand Jordan family. In addition to a thematic Air Jordan 8 collaboration, the Washington Wizards forward has lent his creativity to a Jordan Series .01.
Inspired by Michael Jordan’s time playing baseball, the aforementioned model indulges in a “Black/Gym Red/Sesame” color palette across its synthetic leather and suede upper. Most of the sneaker boasts a dark arrangement, which differs from Hachimura’s first Air Jordan retro collaboration, but nods to the 23-year-old’s Japanese heritage appears across the .01. A labyrinth-like pattern appears along and on the tongue, as well as on the lower heel, while Hachimura’s “H” logo takes over the ruby-colored tongue label. Kanji appears on the tongue labels’ undersides, as well as on the lateral mid-foot, with its appearance on the latter areas giving way to the pair’s “Dear Rui” moniker. Lastly, sock-liners features handfuls of illustrations inspired by Japan and its art, as well as the sport of basketball.
An official Nike SNKRS launch date hasn’t been disclosed by the brand, but that’s likely to change soon. In any case, enjoy images of the lifestyle-oriented pair here below.
