Michael Le Noah NY has long-fostered a healthy relationship with adidas, often iterating on older classics for each instance of collaboration. But here, the label crafts two original silhouettes — the Vintage Runner and Lab Race — both of which are made simple just as they should be.
“After years of running, we’ve come to a handful of conclusions,” the brand states. One of the biggest being that whatever we go for a run in has to be simple and not overly technical. For our Fall ’21 Adidas Originals collaboration we set out for a functional, yet wearable collection that blurs the line between performance and lifestyle.”
The Lab Race, as its namesake implies, is a far more experimental design. Mesh is used heavily throughout the upper, amplifying breathability in between slim cut suede overlays. Leather stripes, then, dress the side, creating leading lines towards the featherweight Lightstrike sole. This model comes in both a brown-dominant colorway as well as a much more vibrant arrangement of white, yellow, and green.
In contrast, the Vintage Runner offers a more familiar feeling. It borrows directly from a track spike shoe released in the 1980s, which is readable in the classic paneling and use of synthetic as well as suede materials. A brown color scheme makes a return here, accompanied by a green-dressed, yellow-accented sidekick.
