The buzz behind Kobe Bryant began long before he played his first NBA game, but his true arrival to the limelight could be pointed to the 1997 All-Star Weekend festivities in Cleveland, OH. Drafted by the Charlotte Hornets and immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers on draft night in 1996, Kobe Bryant was a buzzing name both on and off the court, connected to the likes of Brandy while being touted as the next Michael Jordan. Participating in and winning the ’97 Dunk Contest was definitely a proper first step in filling in the GOAT’s shoes, but little did we know that the Black Mamba would be writing his own legend.

In recognition of the 25th Anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s Dunk Contest triumph is the release of the Crazy 97 EQT in this silver/blue/orange colorway. Mimicking the official colors of the 1997 All-Star Weekend festivities, this upcoming release also calls out the shoes worn by Kobe during the Saturday night dunking showcase. 1997 on the tongue pull-tab and an All-Star pattern of FYW logos on the heel add a special touch to this wild release.

We can certainly expect these to drop at adidas retailers in February right around the 2022 All-Star Weekend.
