Sneaker News New Balance, in the midst of revamping its basketball business, shifted power toward their side with the signing of Kawhi Leonard. Then with the San Antonio Spurs, Kawhi left the Jordan family to forge a new union in the basketball shoe business, and as the foundational athlete for this new era of the brand, New Balance Hoops now boasts a young core of stars that include Jamal Murray and newly minted All-Star Dejounte Murray.
Thus far, Kawhi is the lone signature athlete on the roster, and after a ceremonious debut of his first model, the KAWHI 2 is ready to hit retail. The sequel model forgoes the braided patterns of mod-foot and instead introduces a carved midsole that are designed to portray the planets of the solar system. A similar skyline of mountain peaks appear on the heel of the midsole above the New Balance branding, while Kawhi’s namesake is proudly boarded on the tongue. The upper, comprised of lightweight and breathable mesh and nylon layers, utilizes a FIT WEAVE LITE, while the cushion set-up could be packaged around FUEL CELL technology.
While the brand has yet to officially announce the KAWHI 2, retailers overseas (listed below) have already dropped the shoes in this white/black colorway. See the detailed look below.
