adidas Announces Partnership With Gucci

adidas Announces Partnership With Gucci

If not for the rise of the collaborative sneaker, we would never have seen Dior team up with the Jumpman or Nike SB with Ben & Jerry’s. adidas, too, has quite a few noteworthy partners under their belt, including but not limited to Prada, Wales Bonner, and the notorious Ye. And this year, it seems the Three Stripes family is growing in unexpected ways, as the brand has recently shared a co-branded logo with none other than Gucci.

With its unveil only less than an hour ago, the German Sportswear icon shared not much more than a hashtag. But while the comments may speculate it’s an NFT in jest, the two will likely debut a silhouette inspired by one of the fashion house’s own. The elements and aesthetics of the Gucci Ace, for example, could easily be translated to the Stan Smith; the ornaments of the Journey and the prints of the Rhyton could also find home along one of adidas’ time-honored models.

UPDATE 2/25/2022 (10:45am ET)

Some of the upcoming pieces were unveiled via Gucci’s Autumn/Winter ’22 runway show. See the images below.

For their first collection, the two seem to be shying away from traditional sportswear, opting to create co-branded berets, blazers, and even a Three Stripe adorned pair of heels.
