The Nike Waffle One still receives criticism for appearing like a budget-version of sacai’s highly-coveted collaborations from a few years ago, but a sizable audience of savvy and casual consumers alike have taken a liking to the silhouette.
In addition to appearing with sustainable Crater Foam cushioning à la Nike Space Hippie line, the $100 USD-priced sneaker has emerged as part of expansive warm weather-inspired collections. For its latest ensemble, the vintage Nike Running-informed design indulges in a summer-appropriate yellow makeover. Canvas and leather materials take over the entire upper, which feature a non-standard stacked swoosh that further draws comparison to Chitose Abe’s aforementioned efforts; layered logos opt for a white and black duo. Underfoot, midsoles opt favor an off-white look that allows for the upper to revel that much more in the spotlight. Waffle-patterned tread favors a grey makeup that doesn’t detract from the rest of the shoe’s ensemble.
No firm Nike.com release date has been disclosed by the brand, but that’s likely to change as the summer inches closer.
