Jovani Hernandez Over the decades, Sneaker Freaker has lent its creative vision to a number of footwear projects. Recently, the Australia-based publication launched yet another ASICS GEL-Lyte III with none other than Tokyo’s atmos.
Dubbed the “Alley Cats” colorway, the latest effort in Sneaker Freaker’s sneaker catalog indulges in a predominantly grey and purple colorway. A mix of wild, high-quality materials (i.e. tactile cowhide, satin) come together across the pair’s upper to pay homage to both Melbourne and Tokyo’s alleyways, which have given way to several subcultures over the years. They “gritty” theme that inspired the latest three-way collaboration is also supported by the “toxic” touches on the outsole, with the alluded-to green not appearing elsewhere on the sneaker. “SNEAKER FREAKER” text is debossed on the split-tongued design’s spines, rounding out the special edition of ASICS’ beloved creation.
