With the help of several high-profile collaborations over the last eight months, the Air Jordan 2 has re-entered the sneaker zeitgeist arguably like it never had never. Ahead of 2023, the sneaker’s low-top-variant has been rumored to release in a “UNC To Chicago” colorway exclusive to women.

A nod to Michael Jordan’s journey from Tar Heel at the University of North Carolina to promising talent for the Chicago Bulls, the “White,” “Fire Red,” “Powder Blue” and “Sail”-covered silhouette isn’t the first to pay homage to #23’s earliest days. In 2019 and 2020, two styles of the Air Jordan 1 launched with similar hues to touch on the same story. The Air Jordan 2 Low‘s taller counterpart also emerged in a UNC and Bulls-honoring outfit as early as 1987 (June 28th to be exact); Nike had created a Player-Exclusive take for Jordan’s participation in the Carolina Pro Alumni basketball game between his alma mater and University of California, Los Angeles. The pair ultimately arrived in 2017 as part of a pack with Converse, and the low-top rumored to drop on March 8th of next year is set to continue on the legacy started 35 years ago.
