The New Balance 550 has experienced stateside production issues since re-joining the brand’s lineup of products in late 2020. The last month, however, has seen Steven Smith’s 33-year-old design emerge in handfuls of compelling new styles, like an upcoming ensemble unofficially dubbed “Pure Platinum.”
Reminiscent of an Air Jordan 4 released in 2005 with a similar color scheme, the newly-surfaced “N”-branded offering features a white and light grey arrangement across leather, suede and mesh upper. Branding details are left “colorless,” with the only exception being logos on the top of the tongue; yet, none of the greyscale hits on New Balance‘s latest 550 don a shimmering finish for true “Pure Platinum” flair. Underfoot, the off-white midsole and predominantly grey outsole round out the straightforward and versatile shoe.
No firm NewBalance.com release date has been disclosed by the brand as of yet, but that’s likely to change soon. In the meantime, enjoy official images of the pair ahead.
