Michael Le From the 550 to the 2002R, many a reintroduced New Balance has been welcomed back into the sneakersphere with open arms. A warm reception is sure to greet the 580 as well, as it’s about to make a big return thanks to a bit of help from the brand’s growing extended family. And much like Stray Rats — whose own collaboration should be releasing later in the year — Palace Skateboards is backing the classic sneaker, doing so with their inaugural set of NBs.
Together, Palace and New Balance are rewinding back to the 90s, dressing up the 580 in two colorways inspired by the decade during which the shoe debuted. Between several neutral fixtures, one pair sports vivid purple hues and deep blues across its hairy suedes. Neon green accents are then placed along the speckled sole unit, co-branded tongue label, and the “PALACE” marked dubrae. Many of these fixtures are tinted cool along the alternate option, whose adjacent construction is rendered near entirely grey.
Both colorways of the Palace x New Balance 580 will be available first on PalaceSkateboards.com come September 23rd. A global release is slated to follow on September 30th via NewBalance.com.
