Jared Ebanks In 2005 Nike celebrated the origins of their historic Air-infused technology with the overwhelming “3 Decades of Cushioning” series, coordinating eight of the mid-2000s iconic Air Max models into seven different titular colorway packs. Arguably one of the best Powerwall-dubbed releases, the Nike Air Max 1 enjoyed a perfect blend of shiny mesh, suede and disparate color blocking in a famed homage to the brand’s Blue Ribbon Sports days.
While it doesn’t proffer a specific branded connection, the latest Air Jordan 1 Mid mirrors the brightly cured tones laid down unto the 2005 release for a tonal tribute across Jordan Brand’s neighboring offerings. Mimicking the Air Max’s wheat-coated suede overlay, the latter employs a matching ensemble across Jordan’s first signature silhouette while the heel collar overlay and presiding counter panel come dipped in the color matched tone through smooth leather tooling. Further identical placements render the leather vamp, tongue construction and underlying mesh heel panel in coordinating vibrant green hues alongside the hot pink accent of the midfoot Swoosh.
Remaining disparate from its 2005 predecessor through its lack of shimmering silver detailing, a white and green pairing conducts a tried-and-true sole unit as opposed to the clad-cream composition of its Air Max inspiration whereas hot pink contrasts provide finishing touches along the sock liner.
