Michael Le The “Year of the Rabbit” is nearly upon us, and everyone from luxury houses to sneaker brands are coming together in celebration. Even PUMA and LaMelo Ball are commemorating the Lunar New Year, dressing up the MB.02 in a luxurious, jade-inspired colorway.
Drastically different from Nike’s commemorative offerings, the PUMA MB.02 “Jade” makes no overt nods to this upcoming year’s zodiac animal. Instead, the colorway looks to the titular stone, visually paying homage to its roots in Asian culture by way of a direct, instantly readable color story. Both the finish and color of jade is embodied throughout the entire shoe, emulated across near every fixture. Some details, though, instead opt for a gilded tone, an equally auspicious and fitting choice for the Lunar New Year.
