Who better than Awake NY, the brand created by ASICS Collective founder/leader Angelo Baque, to lead the way for the ASICS GEL-NYC debut? The “new” silhouette, a blend of archival GEL designs, has been met with positive reviews, setting the table for a slew of in-line releases that is sure to continue ASICS’ strong run without the benefit of the energy brought on by a collaboration.
Keeping to its NYC roots, the first standout colorway is undoubtedly this “Yankees” mix of navy blue and grey, but there’s a full variety of colorways that speak to the “dad” shoe look. Shades of grey and cream are common throughout the Spring/Summer 2023 delivery, but you can expect the brand to flaunt to energetic colorways like the pink/blue pair. If you prefer operating on stealth mode, a black/grey will also be available.
