Although New Balance is proudly a North American company, the footwear stalwart has been producing high-quality shoes in the United Kingdom since 1982. Designs include the New Balance 576, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year.
Launched in 1988, the NB 576 is rooted in all-terrain performance running. Premium C. F. Stead suede and luxurious pigskin cover the sneakers’ uppers, which also include breathable mesh bases. The successor to the NB 575 returns in classic navy and grey – two quintessential color combinations for New Balance’s marquee running designs.
“The 576 has taken many different forms and variations over the years,” said Sam Pearce, Creative Design Manager for New Balance Made in UK. “But now, with the model clocking its 35th anniversary[,] we wanted to give the consumer the true experience of this shoe in its original form.”
The two upcoming pairs were manufactured in Cumbria, Flimby, UK as the original style was in ’88. ENCAP cushioning and robust rubber outsoles maintain their traditional roles. Everything from the tongue construction to the roomy toe box has also been meticulously recreated by the Made in UK team. Altogether, each aforementioned component creates a worthwhile celebratory capsule for the sneakers’ milestone anniversary.
Enjoy campaign photography of the collection ahead. The NB 576 pack releases globally and via newbalance.com on March 2.
