You just saw Jordan Brand masterfully combine the Air Jordan 40 with the Air Jordan XX3. Unofficially dubbed the Air Jordan 40 23 until further notice, that outstanding model might have been one-upped by the Air Jordan 40 16, a more thorough cross-hybridization of two legacy models.
Obviously these are a blend of the current Air Jordan 40 game model and the Air Jordan 16, the signature model that debuted in 2001. The detailing is absolutely impeccable, from the patent leather toe-box in navy to the removable leather gaiter that reveals a more breathable base layer beneath–just like the Air Jordan XVI.
Even the outsole bottoms feature the same traction pattern as the 16th model screen to the bottoms, visible through the model’s translucent icy outsole.
This is simply outstanding work from the Jordan Brand design team; if there are more Air Jordan 40 hybrid models, we can’t wait. As of now, this Air Jordan 40 XVI deserves consideration as one of the best releases of 2025. Stay tuned for details.
