Jared Ebanks Last year Trae Young celebrated Black History Month by collaborating with Honoring Black Excellence (HBE) for an inspirational take of his first signature silhouette with adidas based on his October 2020 tweet that read, “Let’s start giving people their flowers while they can still smell em.” Nearly two and half years later, Young is looking to delve out his flowers once again with a consecutive ensemble rendering floral graphics throughout the adidas Trae Young 2.
Establishing a monochrome base layer in stark difference from its clad-purple contemporary, jet-blacks set the stage throughout the heavily knit upper while stitching in bright white contrasts along the heel, mid-foot and forefoot 3-Stripes. Rendered in dark maroon and purple shades, the flowers affixed to the heel render additional color matches along the lace overlays whereas a multi-color bouquet collects amongst the semi-translucent mid-foot shank and insoles. Casting its BOOST cushioning in a pitch-dark association, the remainder of the Lightstrike sole unit in connection with the tumbled leather heel tab comes finished in a cream-colored composition.
