adidas Y-3 is already known to be expensive, purveying sneakers often over triple the price of their mainline counterparts. But as they usher in their newest innovation, the Itogo, the Yohji Yamamoto-helmed sub-label is reaching new, $600 heights.
The Itogo’s exorbitantly high price tag is not without merit, however, as it incorporates a number of experimental features fitting of the adidas Y-3 name. For starters, the shoe is only constructed of five components, these affixed together using absolutely zero glue. The Primeknit upper, which would typically be adhered to the bottom, is stitched to the tooling along the forefoot and heel and further supported by an elastic strap. What’s more, the midsole is completely interchangeable, with two different options for cushioning — Lightstrike or BOOST — included with every pair.
Enjoy a close-up look at one of the most expensive adidas Y-3 shoes ahead. If you have $600 USD to spare, they’re available now via adidas.com in “Black/Black/Cream White.”
In other news, the Air Jordan 3 Palomino is expected to release this Fall.
