Michael Le GORE-TEX is nothing new to footwear, though the context of its use has expanded quite a bit in recent years. No longer is the technology exclusive to outdoors gear, as much of the sneaker industry has developed a fondness for W. L. Gore & Associates’ namesake innovation. The Air Jordan 1, too, is a passionate supporter of the product, ushering in more water-resistant styles for 2023.
Save for colorway, not much has changed about the Air Jordan 1 GORE-TEX since its last appearance. In conjunction with the sneaker’s usual branding — Swoosh, Wings, and Nike Air — the pair features the “GORE-TEX” name along both the heel as well as the insole, both instances of which are clad in a wheat brown shade. This earth tone appears throughout the upper, too, painting the toe box and collar underneath a series of navy overlays. Light, clay-like ripstop then rounds out the construction across the mid-panel and tongue.
