Michael Le The Nike Air Force 1 is nothing short of an icon, remaining relevant for over four whole decades. And while it’s true that there’s no need to fix what isn’t broken, the Swoosh tends to do things a bit differently. And that they have, ushering in many a different interpretation of Bruce Kilgore’s iconic sneaker, the latest of which seems to be designed with the outdoors in mind.
Dubbed the Air Force 1 Wild, this women’s exclusive model seems to follow in the footsteps of yet another past experiment: the AF1 Boot. Much like said release, this pair replaces the sole unit of the original for one much more suited to the trail. The Swoosh takes a similar approach with the upper, replacing its usual leathers for a more durable combination of nubuck and ballistic mesh. What’s more, additional cushioning sits along the inside heel; reinforced stitching darns the shoe along the forefoot; and dual lace systems ensure a tight, secure fit.
