While the six rings, GOAT status and multi-billion dollar brand all immediately ring true to MJ, the Washington Wizards remain one of the more obscure offshoots within the career of Michael Jordan. Come tomorrow, the Beaverton brand will be shining a light on Jordan’s un-retirement with D.C.’s NBA franchise via a former Air Jordan 3 Player Exclusive.
The same 2001 season that saw Jordan suit up in white and blue coincidentally saw the first retro of the Air Jordan 3. Iconized that year by the release of the “True Blue” 3’s, MJ opted to flip the crimson accents for bronze detailing more akin to that of the Wizards palette. Returning to its OG specs 22 years later, tumbled crisp white leather illuminates the ensemble along the silhouette’s staple use of elephant print at the mudguard, foxing and quarter. Shifting the blue tint just slightly along the collar, midsole, upper eye stays and heel’s Jumpman logo, the embroidered tongue logo comes anchored in a shimmering copper while the tread underfoot brushes up a greyscale conclusion.
