The super team trend is currently all the rage across women’s basketball. From A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, Chelsea Gray and Candace Parker suiting up together in Las Vegas to Hailey Van Lith recently joining LSU’s Angel Reese, Flau’jae Johnson and the reigning national champions, the aforementioned star-studded team-ups all stem from the dominance exuded by one team, the Houston Comets.
Securing four-straight WNBA Championships from 1997-2000, The Swoosh is aptly paying homage to the Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes and Tina Thompson-led team with an honorary slate of lifestyle offerings. Introduced via the Bruce Kilgore design’s low-top construction, the Air Force 1 Mid now collects the former organization’s dark navy and red palette, stamped at the lower heel with four-fingered logos. While the introductory effort aired for a crisp white upper, the mid-top pair enjoys a clad navy upper with illuminated hits of red injected within the mid-foot Swoosh, midsole and the embroidered years of the four titles anchoring the heel tabs.
As we await the pair’s release date, in the meantime enjoy official imagery of the Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Houston Comets Four-Peat” below.
