Jovani Hernandez As a relatively new model to the Swoosh’s lineup of footwear, the Nike Air Max 90 Futura has led the charge for a new design series.
Inspired by both trail and futuristic footwear, the pair has recently appeared in a muted mix of grey and black colors. The ultra-breathable update to Tinker Hatfield’s 33-year-old design is accompanied by a series of non-standard, seemingly “barebones” panels throughout the entire upper. Mudguards reprise their traditional roles, but not without a number of modifications and a non-TPU panel at the spine. Underfoot, the story stays true to Hatfield’s blueprint as Air Max bubbles and their supporting foam midsole and rubber outsole keep tradition alive in shape, material, and visuals.
