The adidas Forum 84 Hi “Closer Look” Is Straight Out Of An 8-Bit Video Game

From 2021 through much of 2022, adidas went all-in on the Forum, delivering both a drove of collaborations as well as countless inline styles. And though things have died down since, the Three Stripes are clearly not yet done experimenting with the silhouette. Case in point: the Forum 84 Hi “Closer Look.”

Despite what its namesake might suggest, the adidas Forum 84 Hi “Closer Look” obscures many of its finer details, essentially imagining what the silhouette’s OG colorway would look like if it belonged in an 8-bit video game. Possibly inspired by an extremely zoomed-in photo of the shoe, the pair’s upper is almost entirely pixelated, the blues of the Stripes, collar, and heel made to appear like mere blips. Some parts of the construction, however, are much more ordinary, such as the midsole and the Trefoil stamped into the side.
