The New Balance 550 was reintroduced to the masses in late 2020. Since then, the 1980s basketball shoe design has taken over sneaker rotations everywhere, while also pressuring other companies to tap into their archives for similar offerings.
Ahead of summer, Steven Smith’s once-forgotten design has emerged in three styles exclusive to women. Akin to popular past releases, the upcoming trio features a predominantly “White” finish complemented by summer-friendly tones: “Brick Red,” “Juniper,” and “Incense.” Each hue animates everything from the profile “N” logos to sections of the old school performance outsole. The two-tone arrangement that takes over New Balance‘s next set of 550s bears semblance to Aimé Leon Dore‘s offerings, but no “aged” midsoles land on the women’s-exclusives. Nevertheless, the summer-friendly options are sure to land on wishlists once they hit retailers, just like Teddy Santis’ designs.
Enjoy official photos of all three pairs ahead, and find the shoes via newbalance.com on June 21st for $110 USD each.
