Diana Taurasi is a living basketball legend. A 10-time All-Star, three-time WNBA Champion, former League MVP and now, the first WNBA player ever to reach 10,000 career points. In honor of her historic achievement, the Phoenix Mercury gifted the Chino, California native with a 1-of-1 pair of Air Jordan 1’s depicting her anointment to the 10K Point Club.
Cured in an iridescent purple finish, the iconic Peter Moore design dresses its backdrop in pristine white shades with pops of Phoenix Orange throughout. Aside from its Mercury-inspired palette – the organization she has spent her entire 19-year career with – the Air Jordan 1 mixes in a number of detailed motifs. Taurasi’s “White Mamba” monicker – given to her by the late Kobe Bryant – is emblazoned upon the bright orange laces while crystal rhinestones form DT3 on the right foot and the 10K insignia on the left, which includes the head of a goat within the 0 and three stars just above signifying her three WNBA championships.
Finishing its premium tooling with silver metallic eyelets, the Diana Taurasi x Air Jordan 1 “10,000 Points” can be seen in detailed imagery below thanks to the Phoenix Mercury.
In other news from the Beaverton brand, the Yuto Horigome x SB Dunk Low has recently surfaced in official images.
