Having worked with the footwear brand for the better part of the last two decades, it’s no surprise that Stussy‘s partnership with Nike is much deeper than that of other collaborators. This evidently affords them a great deal of creative freedom, so much, in fact, that the streetwear label is able to extend the life of their projects post-drop.
We saw Stussy do exactly this for the first time earlier in the Summer, as they reimagined their previously-released Converse Chuck 70s with an assist from Our Legacy. Now, they’re at it again but this time alongside Tokyo-based ready-to-wear label NOMA t.d. and the Nike Vandal Hi.
Landing exclusively in Japan, this remastered take on the Stussy x Nike Vandal Hi is heavily informed by the work of NOMA t.d.. The Japanese label’s founders, Masako Noguchi and Takuma Sasaki, have dressed the collaborative silhouette in a custom-printed upper, whose waves of pink draw direct inspiration from hand-dyed textiles. The pair is then rounded out with a special tongue graphic as well as a complementary strap unique to this release.
The Stussy x Nike Vandal Hi by NOMA t.d. is set to release at the Stussy’s Harajuku Chapter on Friday, September 1st at 11am JST.
