Kobe Bryant‘s presence is still felt three years after his tragic passing. As Vanessa Bryant and the rest of the Kobe Bryant Estate continue to expand on the late Laker’s legacy, adidas also keeps revisiting its history with the “Black Mamba.”
In February, the Three Stripes unveiled an expansive basketball collection that included not only the release of new models, but also retros of some of its most iconic silhouettes of the last 28 years. One such design that forms part of adidas Basketball’s “Remember the Why” initiative is the adidas Crazy 8, renamed from the KB8. Bryant’s first signature sneaker with the Three Stripes, the Crazy 8 has enjoyed a string of reissues over the last two decades, but its latest strives to capture the original’s essence. Classic color schemes are expected to return to the sneaker – which no longer dons any Kobe Bryant-related detail – alongside lifestyle-focused ensembles. A combination of “Team Orange,” “Cloud White,” and “Team Light Blue” has appeared on the old school basketball shoe, seemingly referencing the New York Knicks Bryant so-often terrorized throughout his career. Hairy suede makes up the bulk of the sneakers’ upper, while Feet You Wear tooling keeps things on-par with the design from 1997.
Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, as you wait to secure your size via adidas.com on September 18th. The bold-colored Crazy 8 is priced at $150 USD.
