In more recent news, Arsenal has collaborated with adidas and London fashion brand Maharishi to launch a limited-edition collection that blends London-centric streetwear with adidas performance wear. The collection features a unique camouflage pattern inspired by the Lunar Year of the Dragon and includes pre-match and off-pitch clothing, showcasing the club’s heritage with embroideries and prints of iconic symbols. The campaign features players like Declan Rice and Reiss Nelson and promotes values of togetherness and community, with the collection being worn by both the men’s and women’s teams. Though certainly not without its own dedicated fanbase, adidas Spezial never quite caught on here in the states. But over the course of the last year, the brand has made a concerted effort to reintroduce the line-up to said market, making staples the likes of the Handball Spezial more widely available. And with a Maharishi collaboration lined up for October, it’s likely many more people will soon come to know of the collection and what is arguably its most iconic sneaker.

Having teamed up with the footwear brand alongside Undefeated back in 2014, the Maharishi x adidas Handball Spezial is far from the London-based label’s first joint effort with the Three Stripes. It is, however, their first in almost a decade, following up not only the aforementioned collaboration but also several subsequent releases with Nike, Reebok, and Mizuno. For their reunion, the two have dressed the Spezial icon in what looks to be an understated colorway, which mainly consists of black suedes and a signature gum bottom. Upon closer inspection, however, one will notice both the gilded “MAHARISHI” stamp at the side as well as the subtle camo print applied to the side stripes.
