Jovani Hernandez As New Balance preps for the New York City Marathon, the North American company continues to tap creative partners across the globe for special projects. Recently, the Boston-based institution enlisted the vision of South Korean brand Climb As You Love (CAYL).
Founded in 2011, CAYL is an independent label obsessed with all things outdoors. A quick look at the brand’s Instagram account showcases an affinity for the deceptively simple. Its New Balance 610 and New Balance Fresh Foam X More Trail, then, follow similar design principles. “Covert Green” and “Shadow Grey” finishes are employed across each pair, respectively, delivering finishes appropriate for any excursion outside the city. Tried-and-proven cushioning also makes its way onto both styles, blending performance and function like CAYL does in its solo work. Co-branding is kept to a minimum, with the most obvious sign of a collaboration landing on the NB 610’s lateral side and NB Fresh Foam X More Trail’s upper heel.
