ASICS is committed to advocating for and assisting in obtaining a sound mind and body. In recent memory, the Japanese institution has paid closer attention to the environment, prepping collections rooted in sustainability and recycling. As fall gets going, the brand has partnered with Fujitaka Co., Ltd. for a special ASICS GEL-NYC.
Fujitaka is a luxury towel manufacturer based in Imabari, a city on Japan’s Shikoku island. Both Japanese institutions bring an eco-friendly approach to the retro-futurist GEL-NYC, using leftover thread to craft the pair’s shoelaces, embroidery details, and other accents. The hybrid design is covered in mostly muted, but compelling “French Blue” and “Grand Shark” tones, allowing for the towel surplus components to revel int he spotlight. GEL cushioning underfoot also takes on a dark makeup, but accompanying foam, rubber, and stability structures deviate in shades of off white.
Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, as you wait for a global asics.com launch following a release in Japan on Friday, October 6th.
