Updated October 6th, 2023: The shoes are available now on Awake.
–
Teased by the Angelo Baque-led imprint last week, the Awake NY x Converse One Star has officially been confirmed by both parties.
Prepped in two-tone arrangements dominated by black, white, or blue, the basketball-shoe-turned-skate-sneaker has been years in the making. Back in 2018, samples of a co-branded One Star made rounds across the internet, ultimately getting scrapped. As Baque and company continue to capitalize on their moment, brought about through partnerships with other brands and a brick-and-mortar presence in New York City, the Converse One Star by Awake NY makes perfect sense now.
Each take on the reworked basketball model from 1974 features suede across its upper. “Awake NY” branding is superimposed atop traditional Converse star logos on the lateral sidewall. Sockliners and license plates also indulge in dual branding, cementing the first-time partners’ relationship. Sole units keep things simple in classic white. All three pairs fit perfect with the streetwear brand’s affinity for ’90s downtown NYC aesthetics.
Enjoy official photos of the trio ahead. The Awake NY x Converse One Star collection debuts via Awake NY on Friday, October 6th. A global converse.com launch will take place on October 12th.
