From their Uptempo-inspired Air Force 1s to their Swarovski-encrusted Dunks, Cactus Plant Flea Market‘s earlier collaborations weren’t all that absurd. But things took quite the turn in 2022 with the Nike Flea 1, which more closely resembled the Grinch than any actual piece of footwear. And while Cynthia Lu could easily have doubled down with the sneaker’s successor, she has instead opted to go in an entirely different direction.
First revealed by Turnstile bassist Franz Lyons — who wore the collaborative model at Rolling Loud earlier this year — the Cactus Plant Flea Market x Nike Flea 2 bears virtually no similarities to its direct predecessor. A sequel primarily in name, the silhouette appears to combine the upper of something like a cycling shoe with a tank-like sole akin to that of the Balenciaga Defender. What’s more, the design affords a considerable degree of customization: both the oversized Swoosh as well as the included pins can be arranged in a number of ways thanks to the snaps present all throughout the construction.
Enjoy an official look at both colorways of the Cactus Plant Flea Market x Nike Flea 2 — “Black” and “Faded Spruce” — via the official images ahead. While a firm release date has not yet been confirmed, these are currently expected to drop sometime during the Holiday 2023 season.
