Nike’s Air Max Force 1 Mid Appears In “Black/White”

A tame color scheme for a wild design.

Nike’s Air Max Force 1 Mid Appears In “Black/White”

Unveiled via the Nike Basketball Holiday 2023 Collection, the Air Max Force 1 Mid offers an eye-catching option equal-parts heritage and experimental.

Reminiscent of the late Virgil Abloh’s re-imagination of Bruce Kilgore’s “presidential” design, the model features a tumbled leather upper clad in a pitch-“Black” finish. Profile swooshes opt for a cut-out style that reveals a wavy textile version of the brand’s iconic logo. Branding on the tongue label and spine also deviate from their traditional looks, but the Air Force 1 Mid‘s classic ankle straps reprise their roles in faithful form.

Kilgore and Nike Basketball brought Air cushioning to the hardwood in 1982, five years before Tinker Hatfield helped begin the Air Max revolution. The modified Air Force 1 peels back the curtain, revealing industry-changing cushioning units at the forefoot and rearfoot. The surrounding midsole opts for a tamer off white arrangement that breaks up the “Black” upper and outsole. Traction rounds out the sneaker with an understated color scheme, but boast a series of dimples corresponding to the Air pillars above à la Air Max Plus.

Firm nike.com launch details haven’t been shared by the brand as of this writing, but that’s likely to change soon. In the meantime, enjoy official photos of the pair ahead.
