Fresh off The Decision that saw LeBron James take his talents to South Beach, the Miami Heat held their 2010 training camp at the Eglin Air Force Base as a way to minimize the distractions set around the NBA’s newly formed Big Three. The following year, Nike paid tribute to the Heat and LeBron’s unexpected training grounds through the LeBron 9 “Cannon”. 12 years later, the Beaverton brand is remixing the classic orange-green colorway for its own unofficial take on the cost-effective Nike LeBron Witness 8.
Exploring a much brighter treatment in contrast to its pitch-dark mid-2000s ensemble, the mid-top model stretches an off-white tint across its lightly textured base layer while a solid white shade fills in the midsole underfoot. Despite the lack of neons, the Witness 8 remains connected to its “Cannon” counterpart by shifting the tones of the silhouette’s Pantone wheel just slightly, expanding the series through a forest green and tangerine orange pairing. Greens then dominate the upper’s remaining real estate, attaching itself to the quilted forefoot, tongue, collar and inner lining while a set of vibrant orange accents illuminate the profile swooshes, the initial two eyelets, both sides of the tongue tab and the enlarged lion insignia that stamps the medial heel.
Enjoy a detailed look at the Nike LeBron Witness 8 “Cannon” below as we await further release details that are expected to be made available within the coming weeks.
For more on-court solutions from the Beaverton brand, the Zion 3 “Fresh Paint” recently surfaced in official imagery.
