Nike’s “Year of the Dragon” collection is set to bring the reptilian zodiacal figure to some of the brand’s most iconic designs – including the Dunk Low.
The Swoosh hasn’t unveiled its festive collection for the Lunar New Year just yet, but official imagery of several pairs have begun surfacing. Another Nike Dunk Low “Year of the Dragon” has joined the lineup, offering an entirely different look than previously-seen styes for the event. Prepped for kids, the latest commemorative design forgoes any “Dusty Cactus” flair in favor of a muted grayscale color scheme. Uppers opt for traditional leather construction, but lateral side swooshes interrupt the arrangement with their velcro builds. The included attachment sees a vibrant-colored dragon wrapped around Nike’s iconic check logo, marrying East and West like other projects have over the years.
In comparison to other Nike Sportswear and Basketball offerings, the unreleased Nike Dunk abandons most of the “Year of the Dragon” decorations found elsewhere. Branding on the tongue, spine, and sockliners keep things simple, forgoing the whimsical cloud graphics and rich colors of the Ja 1 “Year of the Dragon” for example. Furthermore, the kid’s drop doesn’t feature a special lace dubrae. Instead, the sneaker makes its biggest statement with its velcro swoosh, which may also land on other Nike Sportswear options.
Enjoy detailed photos of the Big Kids’ pair ahead. The “Year of the Dragon” Dunk Low is expected to release via nike.com before January 2024 ends. The pair is priced at $100 USD.
