From the annual “Aunt Pearl” release that honors the life and memory of Durant’s late Aunt Pearl to the Nike KD 4, KD 9 Elite and the recent KD 16 colorway that paid homage to his mother Wanda, Kevin Durant has utilized his signature series to highlight the female figures that molded and nurtured him since a young age. In just a few months, the Nike KD 16 will introduce the sequel to Durant’s third colorway series that heralds the matriarchal figures in his family.
Introduced with the Nike KD 15, the “B.A.D.” theme established a heartfelt tribute to Durant’s grandmother Barbara A. Davis – who passed away in 2022. Transitioning the tonal purple colorway atop his 16th signature solution, the second “B.A.D.” installment explores a two-tone mesh upper that’s darker violet tint extends upwards across the tongue, laces and inner lining. In contrast, the faint lilac shade envelops the nubuck full-length overlay and the 3D molded caging system while consuming the entirety of the sole unit underfoot. While floral imagery doesn’t make an appearance like it’s inaugural execution, the initials of Durant’s grandmother are elegantly rendered in cursive along the left tongue tab and across both insoles.
While a release date has yet to be confirmed, the Nike KD 16 “B.A.D.” can be seen in detailed imagery ahead as we await further release details.
For more basketball offerings, the Kobe 6 “Reverse Grinch” arrives on December 16th.
