Giannis Lets His Humor Run Loose With The Nike Zoom Freak 5 “Dad Jokes”

Updated December 6th, 2023: The grade school-exclusive Nike Zoom Freak 5 “Fun & Games” releases on December 8th for a retail price of $115 (GS) and $90 (PS).

Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the most endearing superstars in the NBA, from his genuine reactions to American snacks like Oreos to obsessing over smoothies during interviews. As the two-time NBA champion and Greece native continues to dominate the League alongside the Milwaukee Bucks and his fifth signature silhouette, the Zoom Freak 5 will be taking on one of Antetokounmpo’s most viral moments of recent memory, his litany of dad jokes.

In March of last season, Giannis pulled up to a post-game media scrum with a book of Dad Jokes in tow and began to rifle off a number of laughable puns. During a mid-November contest, Antetokounmpo debuted the latest colorway of the Zoom Freak 5 inspired by his love for jokes as a father of three. Boasting a multi-color treatment housed within a dominant jet-black leather upper, the silhouette explores deep “Blue Tint” textile sidewalls while the medial installments favor a light lime green tint. Complimented by vibrant “Opti Yellow” accents along the profile swooshes and sections of the midsole, the medial tongue and the heel’s embroidered logo are finished with a titular “Playful Pink” injection.

The pair wouldn’t be complete without the appearance of a classic joke with the left tab posing the question “Why don’t giraffes play basketball?” while the right tongue holds the punchline “too many cheetahs”.

Based on the revised Nike tongue tabs that hold laughing graphics and a “NI-KEE Cushion” logo, the Nike Zoom Freak 5 “Dad Jokes” is expected to receive a release in the coming months. While we await further release details, the pair can be seen ahead in first-look imagery.

For more on-court toolings, the Kobe 6 “Reverse Grinch” may be receiving a Shock Drop via the SNKRS app ahead of its December 16th release date.
