The adidas Adilette 22 is no longer at the center of controversy, but its inclusion within the Three Stripes’ Fall/Winter 2023 offerings may be questioned. Nevertheless, the modernized design from 1970 delivers compelling two-tone color schemes rooted in heritage.
Whereas debut looks on the Adilette 22 favored earth palettes, the latest trio of options arrives with finishes directly borrowed from the standard adidas Adilette. Iconic “Core Black/Cloud White” appears alongside familiar, but less common “Cloud White/Core Black” and “Sport Royal/Cloud White” arrangements. From a distance, the pairs resemble the Three Stripes’ vintage shower slide for the German National Football Team, but closer inspection reveals a future-forward, seemingly 3D-printed build. The one-piece, bio-based EVA slide contributes to adidas’ sustainability efforts while pushing the boundaries of what sportswear looks like. Iconic 3-Stripes branding is printed onto the “roof” of the Adilette 22, bridging the gap between past and present. Lastly, each style features branded messaging on the lateral midsole, further highlighting the German institution’s legacy.
Enjoy official photos of the trio ahead, and find all three styles via adidas.com on Friday, December 1st. The Adilette 22 is priced at $60 USD.
