Jovani Hernandez Love it or hate it, Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami squad have been one of the biggest things in sports this year. Although the Florida-based MLS team couldn’t salvage the season to make the Playoffs, it’s celebrating a fruitful 2023 with an adidas Spezial release.
Covered in the club’s primary “True Pink” color, the latest style from under the “adidas Originals” banner is unquestionably for fans of Messi and team. Suede material appears from tip of the toe to lower heel, boasting the flamingo-reminiscent hue along the way. “Core Black” contrast interrupts at the profile 3-Stripes and Achilles’ Heel overlay, further evoking Inter Miami’s oft-sold out jersey. Instead of traditional “Spezial” branding, lateral mid-foot areas feature “Libertad Para Soñar” text, a Spanish callout to the club’s fans’ “Freedom to Dream.”
Elsewhere, Inter Miami references are unmissable. The MLS team’s heron logo is stamped onto the top of the tongue. The bird duo represents another message important to the club: “In Order to Be Number 1, We Must Go 2gether.” Heartbeat-like graphics are printed onto the sockliner as a nod to the team’s “pulse”: its fans. Underfoot, the sole unit keeps things traditional and forgoes any overt callback to the organization from South Florida.
