If there was a knock against the Nike Air Footscape Woven, it’d be the lack of ventilation. It’s a sacrifice one must make when wearing one of the most stylish sneakers ever to come out of the Nike Sportswear department, but breathability has never been a strong-suit for the cult classic. Hopefully this upcoming mesh version alleviates one of its flaws.
Seen here via official images, the Nike Air Footscape Woven arrives in an elegant Phantom/Light Bone as well as “Sesame/Phantom” combination of colors. The upper in its entirety goes for that monochromatic natural shade, from the mesh upper to the thick woven ribbons that hold the shoe together. Previous offerings of the Footscape Woven were largely suede and even pony hair, so this material is a welcome sight for Footscape fans during the warmer months.
Not to say Nike hasn’t made an attempt to fix the issue; in the early 2010s, Nike debuted altered versions of the model which displayed super-ventilated uppers. Will Nike bring those back in 2024? That remains to be seen. For now, expect this latest Woven iteration to arrive on Nike SNKRS for $160.
