Orange Accents Add Flash To The Asics GEL-NYC

Available now, highlighter shades iterate on the familiar natural tones of the GEL-NYC

Orange Accents Add Flash To The Asics GEL-NYC

It’s been a unique life cycle for the Asics GEL-NYC. First revealed as a signature collaboration with the Big Apple’s AWAKE, the shoe now stands as integral part of the larger ASICS framework. This new Cream/Clay version continues momentum for the GEL-NYC as it settles into the mainline ASICS world.

One look at wide releases for this model tips off a pretty consistent aesthetic standard. The previous GR releases all play relatively conservative in their color choices, adorning the model in neutral tones of grey, cream and ecru. While that isn’t totally abandoned for the colorway at hand, the most obvious addition to is the fluorescent orange variation on their webbing. For the sneakers at hand, it adds an intriguing bit of pop to a relatively monochromatic shoe.

Spinning that idea forward, that bolder shade might indicate ASICS’ plans to push the line into the brighter territory of the original AWAKE NYx ASICS Gel NYC, rather than stick to the conservative script of the past handful of drops.

If this edition of the Gel-NYC has caught your eye, you’re in luck. This Cream/Clay colorway can be found now at Asics.com, available for $130.
