Andrew Rizzo Nike ISPA – standing for Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, and Adapt – thrives outside the lines of traditional design norms. The Nike ISPA Universal, which saw its debut in early 2023, follows this design ethos to a tee. Having surfaced sporadically since it’s inception, Nike now appears set to bring the foam-molded shoe back for the Spring 2024 shopping season.
Computer-driven data and three Nike silhouettes help inform the build of the Universal; the Air Max 270, Zoom Type and the Solarsoft HTM. These elements work in tandem to produce an abstract, modular design akin to the look of ancient fossils, made apparent on contemporary iterations like this upcoming “Natural” pair. A no-glue, Bio-EVA foam construction helps add to the shoe’s appeal, complete with cork insoles that communicate the ISPA sub-brand’s motto.
The upcoming “Natural” ISPA Universal has already begun surfacing overseas, but no word has been mentioned regarding a stateside drop yet. In the meantime, enjoy official images below.
