Rich as it may be, Michael Jordan’s history has been thoroughly mined in his sneaker line some two decades after his (final) retirement. Luckily for those crafting successive releases, his legend continues to provide new ground to explore if you’re willing to get creative enough. That’s exactly the prompt for the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Low SE “Jordan 23 Flight,” a fresh take on a classic alter ego that mirrors the work of their recently announced mid-cut counterparts.
You don’t have to look very far to see what we’re alluding to. A retro rubber hose style graphic adorns the tongue tab and the insole, animating Jordan’s “Black Cat” alter ego and making him the mascot of this upcoming two-pack. The ties to MJ’s history don’t stop there, though. The colorway at work here immediately calls to mind the “Game Royal” drop from 2018, and perhaps to a lesser extent, the coveted original Fragment, or Fragment x Travis Scott, 1s.
Further, there are heavy distressed details with the off-white midsole, cracked leather Swoosh and overlays that arrive pre-faded, on the verge of revealing underlying black. All of those characteristics hint towards the Jordan 1 “Lance Mountain,” arguably the most famous release that featured rub-away features.
Finally, arguably the calling card for this pseudo-pack is the slice of pink that hits the outsole on the right shoe, one last bit of differentiation to drive home their “Special Edition” nature.
No release date is currently confirmed for the Jordan 1 Low SE “Flight,” but they’ll arrive in women’s sizing with a $125 retail price.
In more 1s news, official photos dropped of the Jordan 1 High “Team Red,” releasing at the end of the month.
