Updated March 16th, 2024: A new set of images reveal a clean on-foot look at the upcoming Nike Book 1 “Hike”. The shoes feature a variety of animal prints and patterns inspired by the wilderness encountered during outdoor hikes and travels in Phoenix.
Devin Booker’s “Mirage” Nike Book 1 colorways offered clean, simple looks geared toward capturing widespread appeal upon the model’s introduction. Recent developments, however, suggest the Nike Book 1 has found its first big design theme; Animal Prints.
We covered news regarding an upcoming Rattlesnake Book 1 last week, now joined by a more imposing mix of snakeskin, crocodile, and fur treatments on a new “Hike” pair inspired by the natural fauna Book encounters during his outdoor jaunts.
All three materials embrace “Dark Stucco” green coloring, an understandable choice that aligns with the animal’s natural looks. Snakeskin appears prominently on the tongue, toe, and heel, broken up by croc-like texture on the Swoosh, eyelets and toebox for a diverse mix. A canvas quarter keeps the theme alive with a wild grey/green pattern, topped off by a fur collar that breaks from the rest of the shoe’s reptilian identity. Underfoot, the design is complete with a “Clay Orange” outsole accent in a Phoenix Suns callback, visible on both the medial and lateral views for added flair.
