The Nike Air Max Dn and Air Max 1 have commanded the most attention among Air Max shoes in recent weeks, the former gearing up for a big rollout campaign and the latter returning with original 1986 tooling on a “Royal/Volt” Air Max Day pair. Even still, Nike hasn’t neglected the other members of its air-equipped lifestyle line.

We’re now learning of a “Velcro” Air Max 90 arriving for Summer 2024, defined by a unique heel that comes with three different Nike Air patches for a diverse styling variety. Each patch is made out of rubber to keep with the model’s typical presentation, with monotone “Infrared”, “Volt”, and white options made available. Nike’s choice of heel treatments for this delivery champions two of model’s most iconic colorways on its most distinguishable feature, the Air Max 90 heel being one of the most recognizable Nike design cues of all time.

The shoe’s velcro-centric selling point continues to inform the rest of the build, as semi-translucent TPU hits appear on the Swoosh, eyestays, mudguard window, and outsole. Traditional leather and suede panels provide a sense of normalcy on the mudguard and quarter, respectively, but the base layer appears to wear off-white ripstop to complement the overarching design theme.
